Jaegertor

(Hunter Gate)
Hegelallee / Lindenstrasse / Jaegerstrasse

Jaegertor, Potsdam

Built in 1733 as part of the new city wall, the gate was originally flanked by customs and guard houses. It is topped by a sculpture of a deer being attacked by hunting dogs. The line of the old wall (demolished in 1869) follows the path along the centre of Hegelallee.
