(Einstein Tower)
Albert-Einstein Strasse / Telegrafenberg

Still a working solar observatory - part of the Astrophysical Institute of Potsdam - the Einsteinturm was paid for by public donations and built between 1921 & 1924. It was designed specifically to allow Albert Einstein to prove his theory of general relativity. The architect was Erich Mendelsohn.
The structure was originally intended to be made from concrete, but is actually brick covered with stucco. It was damaged by a bomb in 1945, and then suffered years of neglect, but it was fully restored in 1999.
