Schloss Babelsberg

Built for Prince Wilhelm (later Kaiser Wilhelm I) in two phases between 1835 & 1849. The design was by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in the English neo-gothic style with later additions by Ludwig Persius. The palace stands in parkland overlooking the Havel, with views out to the Glienicke Bridge. It was used by Wilhelm and his wife as their summer residence for over fifty years. Most of the interior decoration and furnishings were lost to looting in 1945.
