(Chinese House)
Oekonomieweg / Park Sanssouci

Also known as the Chinesisches Teehaus (Chinese Tea House). Garden pavilion built by Johann Gottfried Buering for Frederick the Great. It reflected 18th Century Europe's fascination with all things Chinese. Construction was spread over nearly ten years between 1755 & 1764.
The clover-leaf shaped building is surrounded by gilded, life-size sculptures and gilded columns. On a sunny day it is literally dazzling.
