(Flatow Tower)
Park Babelsberg

Viewing tower built 1853/56 on the site of an old windmill for Crown Prince Wilhelm (later Kaiser Wilhelm I). The architect, Johann Heinrich Strack, modelled the design on the 15th century Eschenheimer Gate in Frankfurt am Main. Some of its original splendour was lost to theft and vandalism after 1945, but at 40 metres high, and positioned on top of a hill in Park Babelsberg, the tower still offers spectacular views across Potsdam.
